Who controls your data
SomeTech.work operates this website. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, we act as the controller of personal data collected through sometech.work and through email you send to us. Questions about this policy go to support@sometech.work.
What we collect
We process data in these situations:
- When you email us. Your address, anything you put in the subject line and body, and technical metadata your mail provider attaches (for example routing headers).
- When you use a form or modal on the site. The fields you submit (such as name, company, role, and your message). Today those flows are designed to reach us by email or an equivalent channel you initiate from the page. If we add server-side storage later, we will update this section and the retention line below.
- When you browse the site. Typical server and security logs: IP address, user agent, timestamps, and pages requested. We use this to keep the site running, detect abuse, and understand aggregate traffic.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We only use non-essential cookies or pixels if we have told you here and, where required, you have consented through a clear control. Essential cookies required for security or basic operation may run without consent under applicable law.
Why we process it (lawful bases)
- Contract and pre-contract steps: responding to a serious enquiry, scoping work, or delivering an engagement you asked for.
- Legitimate interests: operating and securing the site, fraud prevention, internal reporting in aggregate form, and telling you about work that is directly related to an enquiry you started (not cold prospecting lists).
- Legal obligation: where a regulator or court requires us to retain or disclose specific records.
- Consent: where we rely on consent (for example certain marketing cookies), you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
How long we keep it
Email and enquiry content: kept only as long as needed to answer you, run an active engagement, and meet accounting or tax rules that apply to invoices we issue. Typical business email is reviewed on a rolling basis, not kept forever.
Security and access logs: short retention windows unless something in the logs is part of an active security investigation.
Who else sees it
We use infrastructure and communications providers (hosting, email, analytics if enabled, scheduling links) that process data on our instructions. We do not sell your personal data. If we use a processor outside the UK or EEA, we put appropriate safeguards in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where the law requires them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Port data you gave us for a contract or with consent, where technically feasible.
- Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
To exercise a right, email support@sometech.work from the address you used with us. We may need to confirm you are the person behind the request. We answer within the timelines the law sets for your jurisdiction.
Children's data
The site is aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we will delete what we can reasonably identify.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle data, we update this page and bump the "Last updated" date. Material changes that need your attention will be called out by email if we already have a business relationship with you.
